What does the future hold for Barcelona

Transfer window is a busy season for every club, especially the European outfits that claim to have the big names of football on their roster. It is quite common for the big guns to flex their financial muscle and snap up superstars for a massive amount of money. They don’t mind splashing out cash in order to strengthen their squad. Tug of wars between several parties is a common happening during the transfer window. The summer transfer window is longer than its winter counterpart and involves more activities on part of the football clubs.

Take the prime example of Barcelona. The Catalans had arguably the best forward line in the world, with the likes of Messi, Neymar and Suarez being at the frontline. However, the club lost Neymar to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2017. Such a big-money move has become quite a norm in the football world during the transfer season.

Replacement for Neymar

With Neymar leaving the club and joining PSG this summer, what options do Barcelona have in order to replace the star winger? The Catalans have turned their attention to another Brazilian in shape of Phillippe Coutinho and want to land him. The Liverpool star could operate from the left wing and play as a central attacking midfielder as well. The second option for the club could be to secure Borussia Dortmund winger Ousmane Dembele who could operate on the left flank as an inverted winger and cut in from the wider areas and create spaces for the striker to score goals. Both the players had a great season with their respective clubs in the last campaign.

Unsurprisingly, Barcelona have both the players on their transfer target list. Both Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund have refused to encourage Barcelona as they want to keep hold of their star players. Barcelona have reportedly offered a bid in excess of 100 million pounds for both the players and are hopeful of landing one of them during the summer transfer window.

The La Liga outfit are currently in a spot of bother as they have not been able to replace Neymar yet. With the transfer window coming to a close really fast, it would be hard for them to secure their desired targets as the selling clubs will not be willing to part their ways with the players late in the transfer season in fear of not being able to find replacement for the outgoing stars. Barcelona’s performance on the pitch was poor as the side reportedly lost the domestic cup in a two-legged tie to their archrival Real Madrid.

Times are not really in favour of the Catalan club. If they have to turn their fortunes this season and want to make it big in the Spanish league and the Champions League as well, they have got to find the ideal replacement for Neymar. Furthermore, they have got to do it really quick as they are clearly running out of time this summer transfer season.  The entire world is watching if it is another Brazilian going to take place of Neymar this summer or the young Frenchman will do the job.
